Acceptable use and scanning policy
Last updated October 2026
tragent sends automated agents to websites. That is only acceptable when it is done politely and with permission, so these rules apply to everyone using the Service, and this page also tells site owners exactly how our traffic behaves.
Only test what you are allowed to test
- AI shopping tests and scheduled checks run only against domains your organisation has proven it controls, by DNS TXT record or a file on the site. Do not try to get around that check.
- Use the public scanner for sites you own or are authorised to assess. It reads public pages only, the way a search crawler would.
- Point agents at staging or test accounts. Do not use the Service to place real orders, create accounts or submit forms on sites you do not operate.
Never use tragent to
- Overload, disrupt or probe for vulnerabilities in any system, or to defeat CAPTCHAs, paywalls or access controls on sites that are not yours.
- Scrape content or personal data for resale, or collect data about individuals.
- Send us or our model providers data you have no right to share, including other people's personal data in traffic feeds.
- Break the law, infringe others' rights, or resell the Service without an agreement with us.
How our scanner behaves
- robots.txt is honoured. Before a public scan the scanner reads the site's robots.txt and does not scan a path that disallows TragentBot.
- Rate limits. Public scans are limited per requester and per domain, and a domain scanned recently is answered from the earlier result instead of being fetched again.
- Small and identified. A scan fetches a handful of pages (home, product, cart, policy files) and identifies itself as TragentBot. The TragentBot page lists the exact user agents.
- AI shopping tests and scheduled checks against a verified domain are traffic the domain's owner asked for, on the schedule they set.
Site owners: opting out
Add Disallow: / under User-agent: TragentBot in your robots.txt and public scans of your site stop. To report traffic you believe breaks this policy, or to have your domain blocked from public scans altogether, email [email protected] with the domain and, if you can, timestamps from your logs. We aim to act within one business day.
Enforcement
We may suspend scans, runs or accounts that break this policy, and may share information with affected site owners or authorities where the law requires or allows.
